Greetings CWJC Friends!

The holiday season is here, and CWJC has so many things for which we’re grateful. Baskets of Hope was a success with over 500 people attending. Our annual Thanksgiving dinner for graduates and volunteers, catered by Patti’s Kitchen, brought graduates from many classes including our very first class in 2004.

Please come join us as we celebrate the success of Class #14.

CWJC Graduation

December 3, 2009

7:00 p.m.

Chapel at Truett Seminary

Reception following the ceremony

We have several women in this class who aren’t yet able to provide for their children at Christmas. If you would be willing to adopt one of our families, please let me know at 757-0416 or pam@cwjcwaco.org. They’re all women who have already made many positive changes in their lives and will continue to do so as they go out into the work force.

Applications are being accepted for the spring semester. Call the center, 757-0416, if you need an application to share with someone who could benefit from the CWJC program.

Thanks for helping us minister to women.

Pam

Greetings CWJC Friends!

We had an exciting day at our center one day last week.  Julie Hays and her great photographer, Jim Peeler, spent some time with us shooting footage and interviewing some of our women for a story about CWJC that will air Monday, September 28, on the 10:00 news on KWTX. I hope you’ll join us in watching it.

We’re supplementing childcare costs for a couple of our single mothers who can’t cover the full amount of their childcare while they’re in classes.  Our childcare fund needs to be replenished.  If you can help, please contact Pam. pam@cwjcwaco.org

Greetings CWJC Friends!

Not only do we have wonderful women in our class this semester, we also have 3 of our graduates volunteering their time to be computer lab assistants.

New Alumni Coordinator

We have 93 CWJC graduates, and that number will continue to grow. We have created a new volunteer position to help us keep in touch with these women. Betty Orler, a graduate herself, will be our Alumni Coordinator. Her responsibilities will include staying in contact with all our grads and planning activities for them, including service opportunities in the community.

Mentors are Now Journey Partners

Our mentoring program is taking on a new look. We’ve changed the name of the women who are serving as mentors to“Journey Partners.” This is a more appropriate term for them because they are truly partnering with our women as they are on this journey to make positive lifestyle changes in their lives. We welcome Sheryl Young as our new volunteer Journey Partners Coordinator.

Have you been to the website, www.cwjcwaco.org lately? Renee Van Treuren, our volunteer webmaster, is constantly adding new information. We even have a“blog”on the website now. Share your thoughts with us as we share ours with you.

Baskets of Hope, October 6

The event is less than 4 weeks away! If you haven’t made your reservations, now is the time. Tables are filling up quickly. If you didn’t receive an invitation, you can find all the information on the website and can even make your reservations there. We’ll be happy to mail you an invitation if you call and give us a mailing address. Renee will add your name to the sponsor list on the website when you sponsor a table. She also has a list on the Baskets of Hope page of some of the baskets that will be available. If you’re donating a basket, please get it to us as soon as possible. Thanks.

I hope you’re enjoying the rain as I am.

Pam

Hi everyone. I am excited to announce I am  the new volunteer Alumni Coordinator. I am looking forward to getting in contact with all 93 graduates! Ladies, this is all for you! Feel free to contact me at the center or through email. We are all sisters in Christ and you are special to everyone at CWJC.  I can’t wait to meet each of you.
Betty Orler
Alumni Coordinator

Our teachers are very enthusiastic about class #14 and look forward to helping these women find hope.  On September 19th, we’ll be training the women who will walk with our mereas (participants) for one year.  We’ve previously called these women our mentors.  We are now referring to them as “Journey Partners”  because they are walking with our women on their journey as they  make positive lifestyle changes and enter for the first time or return to the workforce.  If you’re interested in being a “Journey Partner,” call the CWJC Center 254.757.0416 and talk to Sheryl or Pam.

Class #14 is off to a great start. We have ten great ladies who are eager to learn. They are already comfortable with each other and are looking forward to the next 14 weeks.

Greetings CWJC Friends!

The new semester will begin August 24th. We’re excited about the women who are coming for interviews. This will be a great class!

Sponsor a Merea

This semester you have an opportunity to sponsor a participant. The cost of curriculum and supplies for a woman to participate in our 14-week program is $75. If you want to sponsor a woman, use one of the following options: mail a check to CWJC, P.O. Box 20432, Waco 76702, call the center to donate with a credit card, or donate on-line through our website www.cwjcwaco.org.

Computer Help, Please.

Do you enjoy helping others learn how to use computers? Come join our computer team either team-teaching with an experienced teacher or serving as a computer lab assistant. Computers are taught Monday through Thursday, 10:30 – 12:00. Assistants are needed on a daily basis so you can pick your day. You are welcome to stay and eat a great lunch with us after class also!

Let’s Do Lunch

Fran, our program director, is setting up the lunch calendar. This is a great opportunity for you and/or your group to provide lunch and meet our women. Contact Fran, 757-0416, fran@cwjcwaco.org, to get the date(s) that works best for you.

Baskets of Hope, October 6
